"I also think the role of the assistant has changed since Steven Moffat started overseeing Doctor Who. Rose, Martha and Donna were chosen to travel with the Doctor because they showed in one way or another that they were smart and up to the challenge. Amy and Clara both come to the Doctor first and foremost as mysteries. Amy is the little girl who grew up with a rift in time in her bedroom wall, who doesn’t know why she doesn’t have parents. She spends many episodes being mystically both pregnant and not pregnant but doesn’t know a thing about it and all our information about it comes through the Doctor. What the fuck is that?
Some version of Clara dies on screen twice before she is taken on as the assistant, and it seems like the Doctor takes up with her to find out why. In both cases, the woman is not of interest for her character or her abilities, but for some fundamental mystery in her being. The mystery isn’t even a secret she’s keeping, something over which she has control- it’s something she does not know about, that the Doctor must puzzle out in his own mind. It’s not about her- it’s about what’s wrong with her. When Steven Moffat took over Doctor Who, women became a problem."

Tardis: Did you ever wonder why I chose you all those years ago?

The Doctor: I chose you. You were unlocked.

Tardis: Of course I was. I wanted to see the universe, so I stole a Time Lord and I ran away. And you were the only one mad enough.

To say I’m upset about Matt Smith leaving Doctor Who would be an understatement - and I love drawing him. He has the most unusual and beautiful and striking face. These are some of my drawings of him as The Doctor.

We’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best.

How about…

…for a few season, we just essentially flash back and follow the adventures of the Eighth Doctor and get Paul McGann back?

82ndstreetbus:

Best part of the finale to a poor series was the hope that River Song has fucked off for good this time.

That was definitely one of my favourite parts. I’m also hoping we’ve seen the back of Vastra, Jenny and Strax. We’ve had far too much of all of them. Time to move on.

But the episode as a whole was better than I expected. Sure, there were problems, but I actually enjoyed it. It has been a while since that happened with Doctor Who. I’m still somewhat apprehensive, but with David Tennant coming back, and now John Hurt properly confirmed as the Doctor’s missing regeneration, I’m actually looking forward to the 50th Anniversary special.
